How do you apply Brett’s dry-dashing Aggregates?
Traditionally, the principal finish has been a two coat render with an undercoat consisting of water, cement, a waterproofing admixture, sand and lime if necessary to facilitate application. (To control suction on a weak or porous background substrate, a PVA adhesive is applied first).
The final coat is then applied which consists of cement, sand and lime and is laid on about 8mm thick depending on the aggregate size. Then the aggregate is then thrown by hand then lightly tamped into the surface.
